Building a chip case

I'm wanting to build a wooden chip case for one of my sets.
Has anyone else done this and if so can you point me in the direction of plans?

I found this -- Rockler.com Poker Chip Box Plan -- but want something for a larger set of about 500.

There have been a few other links to some professional woodworkers that have built custom chip cases that member around here have purchased from.

Re: Building a chip case

Just posting b/c if I get the chance to make my own I want to do something like this...

So I can use the bottom as a bank plus have it split for cards, buttons & whatever.

Food for thought

That could be done with a modification of a Jewelry Box design....

Can you post pictures along the way of how you make it?
It helps those of us that like the smell of sawdust.

It's a pretty good book with a few interesting designs.

Neat design. You'd probably need some legs that would automatically fold out and in to stabilize the top portion when it has chips in it.

If you look at the parts diagram you'll see a piece that attaches vertically to support the top layer when they're out. Obviously it's just a jewelry box, but it could be modified fairly easily.

I'm in the process of designing a poker chip case for my Matsui Big Game Clubs, but it's going to be a smaller, simpler case.
