Hey guys.
I am looking at purchasing a case with my order of 500 poker chips from hpc.
I was wondering what you think is the better case and why ?

What are you going to use it for? I'm a "mahogany" man myself, but it's only good for storage; wouldn't travel with it. If your chips never leave home, that's the nicest case, imo.

If you're going to be bringing your chips to a game at somebody else's place, you'll need one of the other options... and somebody else should chime in, 'cause I haven't tried any of them.

Btw, the 500 mahogany has a large open space in the bottom that's very versatile. Could use it for plaques, cards, more chips... whatever you want. It's not a couple of shaped slots that only fit 2 decks of cards and some dice, like most cases.

My Mardi Gras Clays are stored in the 550 Ct Aluminum case with the red interior. It is a GREAT case. The best one I own. It actually holds about 600 chips if you pack them in tight, or use the card holder as another chip area

For what you're buying, I would recommend the alum with red lining.

I also love mahogany cases, but only invest in them for the absolute best chips. Not good for traveling to other games, as a previous poster indicated, but a beautiful way to display your chips.

I got two of the 550 black alu case from HPC. They are very well constructioned and the black looks nice. I would reccomend that modell highly plus you will have extra space to fit 50 more chips in the future. It is roughly the same size as the 500, the extra 50 fits into two slots in the middle, taking half of the space used for cards, dices, etc.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. I've been debating as well and think I'll go with the red 550 case.

Looks like you already decided, but just in case...

I own this case and I love it. It is much nicer than all the aluminum cases I have seen, very sturdy and well made. The latches and hinges all work well.
My ASMs fit 53 per row, or 50 + 4 lammers (which is what I do - it is actually convenient, as I divide the chips up with the lammers). My only complaint is that the lid does not flip up all the way - the farthest it opens is as seen in the pic. It stays open most of the time, but occasionally falls shut which is a little annoying. I would buy it again at $32. In fact, I think I paid a little more, because I was looking for a nicer case, but didn't want to pay $200 for a really nice wooden one.

Good choice, a man with similar taste. Black case with red interior.
