Chips: 220 | | | "Imperfect" chip case Hey everyone, just was wondering if anyone else had any similar issues to my own.
I was asking around and generally saw that people were happy with imperfect cases (being that they may just have a nick or scratch on them) from 5stardeal. So I decided to make the small plunge and get a couple 500c mahogany cases.
One of the cases is in the shape I expected, just a little nicked, no big deal. The other...however, has the hinges that hold the top and bottom of the case together broken off and the screws missing, thus, if you open the case, you're really pulling the top off of it. I guess I might be being a little anal about it since it was my decision to get an imperfect item to begin with but I thought they were just imperfect as regards to surface flaws...not actual functionality...
If I'm completely off base/shouldn't be posting this here, let me know and I'll remove it immediately. Just was curious what everyone else was thinking. | | Sponsored Links | |

Chips: 1,037 | | | Re: "Imperfect" chip case I just checked their website. Here's what it said under the cases you bought:
"These cases were not sold because they did not get past our highly scrutinizing team of inspectors who only ship the finest quality merchandise to our customers."
These cases are brand new but may have a slight imperfection such as a small nick, scratch, dent or something that would prevent it from passing inspection. THEY ARE FULLY FUNCTIONAL AS CHIP CASES.
Please note that these chip cases are not elgible for return for exchange or refund.
ALL SALES ARE FINAL ON THIS ITEM."
I guess they're technically not misleading about its functionality in regards to holding chips. Can you still keep the chips in the case and keep the lid on it? If you were looking for a case primarily for transporting chips I think you should have gotten a different case.
I do agree with you that your case seems to have more than "slight imperfections" though. I highly doubt you'd be able to pursue a refund or anything.
FWIW, I don't think you're out of line by posting this. I'm sure if someone else thinks so they'll let you know. |

Chips: 265 | | | Re: "Imperfect" chip case DO NOT BUY ONE OF THESE!!!!
I bought one just to see and I got a case that looked like it was ran over....
One hinge busted the top metal insert to the lid was mangled and the corners busted... I tried to get it exchanged for a better one and it would have cost me more than just buying a good one out right.
Palm Imports last deal on cases was Great! I got three great cases for the cost of one of 5stars busted ones.... When I got the ones from PI I fianlly threw the other one away....
BTW, I was a reseller for them and couldn't get it replaced. |

Chips: 220 | | | Re: "Imperfect" chip case Well, the busted one is functional in holding chips, that's for sure. However, I really doubt it could do more than just that...hold my chips. If I ever have to move them, well, that's another story.
I read their policy and e-mailed them, we'll just have to see what they say (I mean, that's all I need it for anyway). The other case is almost perfect...just a little scratch on it. |

They flat out tell you it's not perfect yet fully funtional which, by your own admission, it is. Be sure to let us know how things turn out. |

Chips: 220 | | | Re: "Imperfect" chip case Sure thing. Most of all, I'm not angry about it in any means. It was my own decision to purchase the case but I just thought it was more of a surface flaw.
I'll post the update later. I'm betting that they won't replace it (It's in the policy and perfectly acceptable) but I just want to see if they provide me with any reasoning. |

Chips: 2,331 | | | Re: "Imperfect" chip case If the cover will not stay on when it is picked up by it's handle, then it is NOT functional. In my opinion, they sent you a case that is damaged (yes, you were expecting one that was) but they claimed it was functional and I say it is not.
What seems to be the REAL issue here is the "all sales final, no refunds". What if they said, "these are perfect condition, all sales final, no refunds" and you get a damaged one....could you return it? It seems like they are absolving themselves of all claims, and that is not right. With this kind of logic, they would make more money by claiming that it is a mahogany case and sending you a cardboard box..."all sales final".
If it were me, I would insist they send a "functional" one, and not stop hounding them until they do. |

Chips: 220 | | | Re: "Imperfect" chip case Thanks for the tip!
Actually, it's the 500c mahogany case and it has two handles, both of which work, so you can technically pick it up without the top falling off. If you turn it though, the top will most definitely come flying off and with it, most of the chips in the top rack (not that I've tried it yet with chips inside).
I'm still waiting to hear back from them. If I don't hear back today, be assured I'll be calling first thing in the morning when they open next week. |

Chips: 265 | | | Re: "Imperfect" chip case All what it is for them is to sell their broken gear at a reduced cost and 'due to the wording of the ad' not worry about it coming back. |
