Poker Chip case preferences...

I see alot of you have some really nice chip sets. Some MASSIVE collections. What kinda cases do you keep the ones you use regularly in? I was looking at those mohogany cases and kinda liked the way they look. The aluminum ones are getting kinda old.

Re: Poker Chip case preferences...

I use the aluminum ones just because I'm always traveling with mine and I don't want to have to care if they get dented/scratched.
If I had a set just for home I would definitely get a nice wood case.

Re: Poker Chip case preferences...

I really like the way the clear acrylic 1000 chip carrier looks (the one that holds 10 trays)

Disclaimer: I don't actually have one of these, just judging by the pics of them... actually, does anyone have one of these? How do you like it?

Re: Poker Chip case preferences...

I'm pretty much a noob here too but I have two of the acrylic 1000 chip carriers and I love 'em. Only thing is make sure to get the one with the internal divider piece going the whole length of the carrier and not the weaker half piece (I have both, the better one I think you can get from PI).

Re: Poker Chip case preferences...

I have had one of the "mahagony" cases and it was pretty nice I just didn't like the way that an odd number of chips would fit in the chip rows. It was like 54 paulsons, so that number just didn't work for me. I currently have nice looking wood with glass lid that fits 500 in groups of 20, if you had plastic slugged chips. It will fit 21 paulsons in most of the rows and the chip recesses are very shallow so I am waiting for the 1000 chip capacity case to get back in stock at this web site:

http://www.pokershop.com/

A month ago when I contacted them they said it would be 2 months so I hope I am only a month away from getting one of these.

Re: Poker Chip case preferences...

I have one of the "mahogany" 750-chip case and really like it (from 5stardeal). I also have a 300-chip case with a clear acrylic lid (from straightflush.ca). They're used to store my Samurai Palace chips (which never leave the apartment). You can see each of them in this pic:

http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...pr0n-pr0n.html

I also had a oak 300-chip case that fell apart (little finishing nails plus glue hold it together; I need to reglue it). Otherwise, it's similar to the red with acrylic lid above (but with a wooden lid).

My first case was a 1000-chip acrylic carrier (also from 5stardeal), and I've really enjoyed using it with racks (although the cheapy racks tend to crack easily). It's nice to be able to easily count your chips at the end of a MTT just by putting them away!

Oh, and I also have a 200-chip aluminum case with acrylic lid (also from 5stardeal) full of sample sets and collectibles, and a 100-chip "mahogany" heads-up case (got it from 5stardeal, but they're everywhere; HPC has 'em with a nifty deal for any chip they sell). And I'm awaiting several 650-chip cases from PalmImports (mini-group buy; should be here any day now). And I'm in the middle of a deal for some 600-chip acrylic carriers for a new MTT set. And I bought a 500-chip "mahogany" case for my best man (along with 600 Casino Royales). They can actually hold much more than 500 if you use the "utility" section that's intended for cards. Oh, and I have a 200-chip Casino Royale "limited edition" case for my T5,000,000 heads-up set, and 4 of the soft Casino Royale cases (but they suck; the plastic dividers break very easily, including when being shipped to you).

I think that's it.

That's the 750-chip "mahogany". They can be found all over the web and range from about $50-100. I'm not sure who has the best price anymore. If you're looking at getting a set of chips that 5stardeal sells (Paulson "Top Hat & Canes" or "National Poker Series", any Nexgen set, etc.) you can usually get it to come with this case for a reasonable price.

*EDIT*
Here's a link to sets that come with it.

They also sell "imperfect" ones for $30. Somebody did a review of them and said the imperfections on his were barely noticeable (a scuff somewhere, and that's about it).
