Re: Paulson Racks

I really like Paulson racks, and have managed to appropriate a dozen from various cainos over the years. (I paid for them... believe me, I paid for them!) Each row is 66.7mm and the chips fit perfectly. They condition varies, of course. BTW Paulson has had them made in China for many years.

Chipco makes a very nice one, too. They work very well for either Paulsons or Chipcos.

But I received some chips in generic (Chinese) racks, I suppose like the ones shown in the CDS link above. And I must say that they are also excellent quality. It's difficult to know (like on eBay or many retail sites) if the racks are the smaller 66.7mm or the other 67.7 mm size, but these Paulson clone racks were great. They fit and stack well. I would have no problem putting all my Paulson chips in those racks.

Re: Paulson Racks

I have several of the 66.7 mm racks that CDS sells. They are very good quality racks as far as construction and looks go, but the tray row bottoms are not level for some reason. This makes the chips on each end of the rows higher than the chips between them. There are several threads here on CT that speak to this...

I noticed that on the CDS racks as well but it doesn't affect the stacking and the difference is too small to really notice. They are great racks for your paulson chips and if you use the HPT discount code hpt5305 you get another 5% off! Buy 30 racks and the cost is about $2 ea shipped.

My concern is all the weight from the racks stacked on top seems to be placed the ten edge chips rather than distributed evenly among all the chips. Assuming this is true, I wonder what effects long-term storage will have on these chips.

For the purposes of long-term storage, you could always put a composite chip in those couple of spots that bear all the weight, just to be on the safe side.
Kinda lame, I know; but when push comes to shove...

For constant use it wouldn't be a problem since the 'weight-bearing few' would constantly be ramdomly rotated anyways as the racks are emptied and then re-filled at the end of the night.

To avoid all of the above; buy some Chipco racks from Michael at HoldemPokerChips.com as I did, and be done with it.

As an extra: I'm expecting delivery on some acrylic racks from PSO, that I used some of my spare PSO points on.
I will post my experiences using those with my Pharaohs once I take delivery on them.

Thumbs up Re: Paulson Racks

Purchased the "not paulson" paulson racks as well. Very pleased. I do have the same problem with the chips on the ends. Thats the only thing that bothers me. Thing I am wondering is if it is the injection point mold that rises the chip, or not. I was considering trying to file that down slightly.

Re: Paulson Racks

Has anyone tried contacting the retailer regarding the issue of the 'raised chips'? I'd be curious to hear their spin on it.

Just received the PSO racks (via Nevada Jacks) and forget about doing these with Paulsons. Each row almost fit 21 chips but not quite .
I was kinda hoping to be able to squeeze the extra chip in for each row, but there's just a fraction of a millimeter too little to do so (but enough to leave an unacceptable gap and tons of play when seating the standard 20 chips per row).

Re: Paulson Racks

I've found the 67.7 mm standard racks hold 105 TRK's perfectly...one extra per row.
