So what happens to the mock up now? The mockup is better than most cases now on the market.

And you don't see many cases with accu ride heavy duty drawer slides either....wow

The prototype really isn't that nice - from what I've seen him do. The final product won't have the nails like that and will be routered better, etc. I think the poor quality pictures hide the bad stuff on the prototype. In person you would agree with me. Maybe because in person you see it's really just made out of cheap poplar and some plywood.

Noel - I think the main reason he did the prototype was because of those rails - he wanted to make sure he made everything the right size to accomodate that kind of rail. It ended up adding I think an inch or so to the witdth of the box (also an inch to the depth because they pull ALL the way out), which I told him was fine - more storage space up top for extra stuff.

I know it's been a while - and even I thought this may never happen - but it's getting close. He's had other projects to work on and this one is being done for just materials - so he has had to do other things. One of them is this nifty little box:

In the meantime - here is what he's got done on my Samurai Chest. it's still rather plain looking and does not have any of the Maple accents it eill have when done.

Hopefully the next batch of pictures will be the final stages - I can;t wait to have anice home for my Samurai - especially the new ones which should be avilable soon....

very nice work. how much spare time does he have?? The rest of us need one now...
