99% of the flaws are on the last inch of the wood, so I cut them long and trim.
These are indeed for Wedge.

I emailed this thread and Ranman's thread to a friend of mine who has a CDC (robot carving machine attached to a computer). He makes mandolins (good ones) as a hobby. He said he could do some trays for me. I bought him a couple of the 1 5/8 inch router bits and had them shipped to him. I am going to pick out some wood this weekend and chip trays here we come. Thanks for the idea. I will post picks when mine are done. |

few questions
...what size router bit are you using?
... is that a plunge router?
... have you considered using what will now be referred to as the "Wedge-Rack-Drawer-Rack" jig (WRDR-JIG) to produce (what you claimed to be easier to produce) long racks and then just cross cutting them to 20ct width for the 100ct racks?
It would seem that cutting with the grain length wise for a series of 2 and 3 row width boards and then cutting them to 20ct widths and then use the flat "sides" to hold a 2-row and 3-row section together to make a 100ct rake would go faster instead of the drill priss method. just a thought outside of the rack...er...box

I think these are for Wedge....unless I decide to sneak a few of them into my suitcase. | I've had to do the same kind of elaborate setups for projects (especially when I don't have the right tool for the job). If you're doing a lot of these, there's got to be some kind of jig you can make to speed up the process.
Also, if you can, buy some quick clamps. Those are so much easier to set up.

If you want to cover the cost of a larger one, then I can help out.
For 44mm chips, a 1.75" bit is needed. I have not found a 1-7/8" bit. The next available size is 2" = 50.8mm. | Where did you find the 1-5/8" bit? I could only find 1-1/2". | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
