Actually, I need three trays... Holding 1200 chips each? (15 rows x 80 chips per row?) | Given the bit that I'm using, I can only do a twenty chip rack.
More expensive ones ($45+) are available that I will consider after a few sales. But my drill press only has a 2" travel, so I have to stop and jack up the blocks then finish.

It still needs to be sanded and sealed with a clearcoat.
This one will fit 200 39mm Palmas chips.
I am finishing a couple racks that fit 100 each.
The wood is black walnut.
If I sell them, the cost will have to cover the $5 for the wood, pay part of the $40 for the router bit, and a couple dollars per hour for labor.
I'm not Bob Vila, and I don't have his workshop

Jamby and Roland and whoever else with these...help me out here | My router bit is only 1-5/8".
If you want to cover the cost of a larger one, then I can help out.
For 44mm chips, a 1.75" bit is needed. I have not found a 1-7/8" bit. The next available size is 2" = 50.8mm.

After I get better with the cheap pine, I will move up to walnut or other hard woods. I will make racks out of any wood, but finding pieces that are 1.25" thick gets pricey. Rockler sells mahogany for about $0.75 per linear inch. http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?page=826
As far as having a nice chip near the power tools, just remember that one has to be smarter than the equipment they are working with. | Take a picture of the new walnut rack with this edge banding. Of course, consideing how long it takes to laminate all these pieces of exotic wood, Im sure the price would skyrocket. |

But, I will just set the laminated pieces next to the walnut, not glue them together.
Here it is, clamped, not glued.

He was the guy sitting next to you in the chiptalk tourney the other night who sucked out on you twice in 4 hands and took all your chips and knocked you out of the tourney. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
