Chips: 6,850 | | | Regular old chip cases I like the regular old chip cases: briefcase style, holds 500-600 chips. But I've gotten some terrible cheap ones from 5star in the past. When I ordered my Pharaohs, I got the 550 aluminum case from HPC (the one that is not all aluminum -- I just tried a link that didn't work). It seems like a decent case, but it hasn't seen that much use unfortunately.
I need to get another couple of cases as my chip addiction is starting to get out of control. Does anyone have any suggestions? Should I get another couple of the same cases? Does anyone know how well these might hold up? (Of course, I assume Michael is selling good quality merchandise.) BTW: I don't want one of the birdcages or pelican cases: nothing huge like that, just regular old cases. |

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: Regular old chip cases The kinds of cases that you're looking for will most likely be imported from China and will be of poor quality. That's just the way it is and that's what they're shipping. If you want to avoid surprises, you should probably just visit a local retailer where you can examine the product before you buy it. I think just about any of the cases that you'll see advertised on web sites will, be imported from China and their quality will tend to vary. One thing you might want to do to minimize your chances would be to avoid getting cases that are too big, as they tend to use the same types of frames and handles for the cases regardless of their capacity. As such, a 300 chip case is far less likely to fall apart in normal use than say a 600 chip case, and a 1000 chip case is probably just asking for trouble. I think most people will probably tell you to avoid anything larger than a 500 chip case (I only use 300 chip cases or just use racks).
Actually I have some "regular old chip cases" but they're made of wood, not aluminum, of so-so quality, and covered in vinyl (I told you they were old!) Quote: |

I have not seen it, but there's a bunch here that like it...however you will need racks and covers as well. |

Chips: 12,758 | | | Re: Regular old chip cases You might also check out the "Elite" line of cases, available in 400, 550, and 700 chip models, at Gameland Sports: http://www.gamelandsports.com/.sc/ms/cat/POKER%20Chips^2FSupplies--Cases%2C%20Racks%20%26%20Carousels/2
I had one and sold it along with the chip set I purchased from Gameland and the case was actually very good as far as the aluminum briefcase style you are interested in go.

Chips: 1,728 | | | Re: Regular old chip cases I have a couple of those Elite's in the 300 chip size. They tend to be a bit tight with some of the import chips, but there is plenty of room for rows of 50+ chips for any of the casino grade chips (and some people may find it to be too much room). A couple of decks of poker sized cards will fit snugly into the spots for cards (a pack of Bees or Bicycles will just barely clear the box). The overall height of it the case is a bit higher that that of some of the earlier imported chip cases, and that is compensated for with a layer of egg crate foam in the top of the case. Quote: |
