How much for a high quality wood chip chest?

I have a general sense that most people here have a large number of chips/sets that are in variety of different storage or display cases. I am looking for a nice high end chip storage solution that holds a large quantity of chips and have not found any so far. The largest I have seen is the oak chest that holds 1200 and an aluminum style that holds 2000 chips each.

I currently have about 1200 chips, and 2200 American beauties on the way and a bunch of Samaruai's in line behind them.........and beyond that who knows

So I started looking around for a high quality wood storage case and stumbled into the Gerstner manufacturers web site (see link below). They currently don't produce such a case for poker chips, however I have suggested it to them for a new product. They replied back to discuss what would be an acceptable pricing structure and really to feel out what the true market potential is before commiting to new product. They have both overseas manufacturing and units made here in the good old USA. and pricing would vary based on this as would quality I am sure.

Would you like to pass along some vintage chips and a furniture quality case to future generations of your family?

What price would you pay for a high quality solid wood case that held at least 2000 chips and looks nice enough to display in your home?

Re: How much for a high quality wood chip chest?

I'd like one.
I was talking to a furniture builder who specializes in mission-style furniture (quarter-sawn oak, dovetail joints, the whole bit). I was thinking of a small chest of drawers (kinka like a mini highboy) with about 10 drawers. That chest could hold about 10,000 chips. Price looks to be arount $2,000. I haven't ordered it yet, but that's what I've got my sights set on.

The mini highboy style is what I was thinking also........and somewhere around the 10K chip range too.

A least three of us have that case. Here's a couple pictures of mine:
http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread...ghlight=walnut

If you search chiptalk for "walnut" you'll find more pictures and discussion about that case.

The problem is, that case only holds 1000 chips max. The 1200chip american oak case, BTW, can hold more than 1700 chips if you put some chip boxes in the the top section. For more chips than that, you're out of luck.

Of course, you could always just put a bunch of boxes of chips in any dresser or cabinet, but it would be nice to have a large chest designed specifically to hold chips.

Re: How much for a high quality wood chip chest?

It was a month ago but there was a thread here: http://chiptalk.net/forum/showthread...ight=wood+case with someone who was looking into making custom cases. It's definately a cool idea in case I don't want 5 task force cases in the future.

Re: How much for a high quality wood chip chest?

Cytoviper- I can't vouch for the Gerstner International chests, but I can tell you their domestic products are top-notch. But with the prices they command (high-3, or 4 digit), fit, looks, and functionality are to be expected. They really are a heirloom-level product that will last for generations.

Re: How much for a high quality wood chip chest?

I would think that an apothecary cabinet would work well, you would just have to use chip racks in the drawers. A quick look on google, came up with this.
Or if you want to make your own, try here.
