40MM coin tubes (Medallion) - hold 20 poker chips each

Okay, I think I'm finished with poker accessories for awhile (or at least I need to be). I received the 50 coin tubes that I ordered and these things work great. Each tube holds 20 poker chips perfectly (I tried it out with ASMs, Pharaohs, Nexgens and Soprano 10g). To make the tubes more useful, I adjusted the number of chips that I hand out to 20 for cash games ($20 buy in = 10 x .25, 5 x $1.00, 5 x $2.50) and 40 for tourneys (T5000 = 20 x $25, 15 x $100, 4 x $500, 1 x $1,000...so I'll hand out 2 tubes per player for tourneys). I have 19 chips in 9 of the tubes and that's a great fit too (so you don't have to have the tube filled to the top for these to still work great). The lid to the tubes pushes/pulls on and off and kind of snaps/clicks on and off because of the groves on the the tube and on the lid (and the lid is on there good when snapped on). The cost for 50 tubes was $17 ($24.29 to my door which includes $1.10 sales tax as this is an Illinois based company). If anyone is interested in these let me know and I'll dig up the vendor info.

Great idea KY. Never thought of that and I've used those kind of tubes for years for my coins!

Just about any coin collecting accessory site should have these. I did a search for "coin tubes" and found several. This size would be for the 1 oz. silver American Eagle in case they don't list the 40mm.

Yeah, somebody sent me 20 chips I bought in one of those, and I've been using it now and then.

It fits the standard US 39mm chips real well, like the Pharaoh's & ASMs. I find it's a little tight for some of the 40mm chips out there, like B&Gs, Nexgens, Sopranos, etc. But still a great container... nice quality!

My Nexgens and Sopranos aren't tight at all but maybe the size is slightly different depending on the manufacturer (like chip trays). These are made by Numis. Also, I don't know if they made a mistake on the website, but the tubes are listed as 39mm (Medallion size) online, but 40mm is printed on all the lids of the tubes that I received...and based on the slight space around the diameter of the chip when inside the tube (the pic of the Pharaoh's inside the 2 tubes with the lid off shows this), I'd guess they're 40mm.

Yup that's the same one. Numis tube, marked as 40mm. You can tell it's a nice quality item.

I've only had a few problems with getting some 40mm chips out of a full tube. I've had to whack it to get the last few out of the bottom. They fit perfectly. But maybe it's just the gawd-awful humidity in Louisiana!

Gotcha. I filled one tube each of Nexgens and Sopranos and didn't have any problems but 1 sample isn't exactly concrete evidence...so that could be the case. I may try it with more tubes when I get a chance.

Yeah, I spent a lot of time looking at this stuff last week. I started out wanting a tube that would hold at least 25 chips (with 45 chips being my preference). I found that option under "clear package tubes" but the vendor sold by the carton and I didn't want 100 tubes and I didn't really want glass tubes either. Once I gave up looking for tubes that hold 25+ chips, I started looking at "coin tubes" and I looked under every rock. I started out looking at the round tubes and was eventually attracted to the square "no roll" tubes. I ended up ordering from the cheapest place that clearly listed the diameter and also listed how many coins each tube would hold. I even compared the thickness of some coins to chip thickness to try and be sure if 20 coins would = 20 chips (luckily they fit as I took a gamble not knowing for certain ahead of time).

I believe the Silver American Eagle coin tubes have a larger diameter than the ones I got because I remember one site that sold the Medallion size (which some sites say are 39mm and some say are 40mm) specifically stating that this size would not fit Silver American Eagle coins. So for those with larger than 39mm chips, do a search for "coin tubes" + "Silver American Eagle". I ended up going with the Medallion size because they were generally cheaper than the Silver American Eagle coin tubes and I definitely wanted a vendor who used paypal (which many of the online coin vendors do).
