Someone mentioned this above, but if you have acrylic chip racks without covers you can get stacks of 2 in the case and the foam from the top side of the case holds everything in place perfectly.

I haven't decided how to do my bottom foam yet. I like the covered cases with the chips sideways a lot but this way seems to be pretty effective in fitting a ton in the case. Search for the thread about chip cases and weight if you're worried about storing/transporting chips stacked in the acrylic cases.

Also, if you look at the bottom right hand corner of the case there's room for another 2 chip racks so this setup could hold 1,200 chips. This is 900 desert sands. The rack of gray chips on the left has a chip rack upside-down on the chips to keep them in place. Pretty darn heavy with a little under 20lbs in chips but I brought it out to a game on Sunday and it worked just fine.

EDIT - Scaled the 500+Kb picture to a ~200kB one.

thanx Q10,

however i've already got my cases (no racks w/ tops, just cases) and i like them on the side view also (for the looks of it)...

basically, i ripped out too many squares from the bottom and now the case doesnt fit snug...its got too much room.....

anyhoot.....

if all else fails, i guess i just spend $25 more and use this other one for my personal tools......

ty,
d

I'll sell you my bottom foam for $20 + shipping

Sorry to hear that yours didn't work out as you hoped. You should just buy more chips so you won't have room to store them sideways.

WalMart sells a bag of 1" foam for about 8 bucks in the fabric section. I found it looking around for material for my poker table. JoAnn's also has 1" foam, but it's more expensive although you can get a specific amount. I guess you can cut and paste the foam for your custom fit?

For the best fit but most expensive option, open up your yellow pages and look under 'foam' for local shops who sell them at specific dimensions.

daniel,

You may want to try using spray contact adhesive to glue the pieces of foam back.
