New Quick and easy clay chip cleaning method!

I've read various cleaning methods and I don't recall anyone trying this....I appologize if I missed someone elses post that have tried this...

This is the new way I have figured out how to clean clay chips. Specifically I just got a set of Paulson Crystal Parks. Well the $5 chips is a bright yellow with black/brown edge spots. The chips needed a cleaning badly. I tried a few types of soap but hesitated using harsher cleaners like soft scrub.

I recalled I had a few Mr Clean Magic Erasers under the sink. Grabbed one...got it a little wet....and I could see results after about 3 scrubs. You have to press pretty hard, but most all the dirt and oil came off. The Magic Erasers sort of fall apart as you use it and it gets dirty. I was able to clean over 500 chips with 4 Erasers. Took about 3-4 hours. The Erasers also leave behind a white residue also. Just rinse them with water to eliminate this. And reapply oil after they have dried.

I was amazed at the results. And the Erasers are very gentle on the chips. No worries about color loss from bleach or harsh chemicals.

I also had a few old paulson chips from the 70's...one was hot pink and one was white. These chips now look new.

So there you go....awesome cleaning method that is fast and relatively cheap. My hands were pretty soar the next day....but it was worth it.

Let me know if you also try this and your reactions!

My favorite method for cleaning chips (especially casino chips with lots of grime) is to use SoftSoap liquid soap. Just a drop and rub in the soap with your fingers does wonders and gets most of the grime off.

Wish I would have had before and after pics when I've done this but it does work.

Just have a soft clean dry towel available to lay them out in to dry.

Depends on the dirt...if it's finger oil it'll be a waste of time to try light cleaning like a toothbrush without some sort of harsh abrasive.

Everyone with some dirty chips should try the Mister Clean Magic Erasers and report back...best method ever!

Tried the magic eraser thing and while it works, it also made a terrible mess, so i came up with another method, I used BON-AMI cleanser its the one cleanser that says it will never scratch. So I took two small containers, in one I put about two inches of water and put enough bon-ami in there so a paste would form on the bottom of the container, then place about 10 or so chips and let them soak a bit, used a tooth brush with the paste and the chips came out like new, used the second container to rinse off the chips, dried them and oiled them. Sweet really works! Click on this pic I'm so glad i got it to work YES!

By the way this is a picture of the mini-knife i used to get the crud out of the concentric circle cost a buck at harbor freight store and came with five blades. Hey Lumpy getting better, don't you think.

For all you white chip haters this may be painful for you, but i did have a blue knife---Oh yea i didn't save a dam thing on my car insurance--lol.
