but not sure if i can get the desired result in drying the chips.
That was kind of the point of my earlier post. Getting the oil on isn't really a problem, outside of sparingly applying it. It's getting the excess off that seems to causing the most manually intensive part of the process.
I tried building a crude centrifuge from an old fan, but the results weren't optimum.
Hi Mike, thanks for the message....it's actually a pain in the ass, i just oiled the pharaoh's for about 4 hours straight for about 400 chips....now i know the easier method that will work, in case i will buy another set.
i was thinking something like a piggy bank or a vending machine, where you would feed each chip through an padded oil-soaked slot. presumably if it was tight enough the excess oil would just squeegee off......
Update on my experiment:
Really didn't get the results i was looking for in drying the chips, so I'll still use the machine to oil the chips then dry by hand, at least this eliminates hand oiling and helps out the fingers some what!
Someone suggested that i try it again and let the chips rotate for a longer time period, when i can I'll try this and see if it helps with drying off the chips!
The rock tumbler is a pretty good idea for oiling them.
To dry, you could wrap a piece of a towel around a length of dowel rod and stick it in a cordless drill. Line up a bunch of chips against an edge, and hit them with the drill (just make sure it's spinning toward you edge and not away).
