I think that when the chips are brand new, the crosshatching on the edges of the chip get worn off pretty easily and the clay rubs off onto other chips. After a while, the edges get kind of smooth so there's not as much friction and the clay doesn't come off as easily. I've had a set of sample JBs for 2 months or so and have shuffled them A LOT, I would say they don't rub off as much. The edges of the mold are smooth.
I have not experienced the colors rubbing off yet (only 10 hours of play). I also asked my buddies before playing not to shuffle different denoms quite yet until we break them in with some oily fingers.
I have a set of the crappy ole high rollers... when i get my pharoahs, should i use the HR's for all but one color (say, $25), and use the pharoah's for that color for a while, to break them in with only the same color paulsons?
