I too have had great results cleaning up dirty chips with unscented liquid soap and clay casino chips. No adverse effects from using the soap.
I get a drop of soap on each side and rub it in by hand. Then for the cracks and crevaces I use a soft tooth brush. Rinse, dry with a clean towel and tada! Clean chips. They do look a world of difference better.
yeah for my dirtiest chips i've had to use up to 20 toothpicks per side of a chip (they're ridiculously dirty), but they look incredible when they're clean...
I've found that the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser works well with water, although the linen finish on some chips like Paulsons seems to mutilate the eraser pad quickly. These things are great for cleaning anyrough surfaces, but they don't last that long.
