Absolutely not. It was in warm water for maybe 5-10 minutes total (it seemed like a long time for me!) and it came out perfectly. I continued cleaning it, then dried it and oiled it, and it was just like the other chips. Except for the bite out of it, of course.

thanks, that's good to know because i have a set of chips that i recently purchased that are so grimey that it will take a lot of scrubbing just to get them into the shape that i want them (most, but not all of the dirt gone), but i wasn't sure how much scrubbing was too much...

This is how i recently cleaned a rack of paulson chips.

I used two small containers, one i filled about 2 inches of water and put enough "BON-AMI" cleanser in it so that the bottom of the container had sort of a paste laying on the bottom, then just put so many chips in there, about ten or so, let them soak for a few minutes, then using an old tooth brush started to scrub away and it worked great, when i was satisfied it was clean i then used the second container for the rinse off.

On a side note, the concentric circle, i used a miniature utility knife which is very tiny and the blade fit perfectly to go around the edge and get the crud out of this area of the chip.

Hey tomb,
Any chance you can cash that (chewed) chip back in at the casino? You know like in a rack?

CAUTION -- CHIP ABUSE BELOW!!

I probably could have given it back in a rack. But I took the opportunity to perform some chip surgery (as I've been known to do!).

You can see that (1) Paulson chips are solid clay, and (2) the edge spots go all the way through. You can also see a portion of my "bite" at the lower left hand part below (though I cut most of it off).

Never a dull moment in chip land!
