Dude, vegetable oil is a huge mistake. I made the mistake of using it on a whetstone to sharpen my knife with, when I was out of gun oil( I was too lazy to go get more), and it got all gummy and nasty, and I couldn't ever get it off...ended up throwing the stone out. I wouldn't do that too any more chips if I were you.

Actually, any oil on a whetstone can be a mistake. Oil is for oilstones, water is for whetstones and ceramics. Diamonds and carbide honers can be used dry.

Cool Re: Mineral Oil?

I just ordered some spoon oil. Can't wait to give it a try. I posted the link below where I bought it from. They use Paypal so I ordered from them. I'll let everyone know the results.

Re: Mineral Oil?

Clay chips only. You could use it on ceramics, but it won't do anything but make them greasy.

Re: Mineral Oil?

Can you use the oil on the 13 gram poker chips, the clay composites?
