Cleaning Tutorial: Enjoy! (Pics and Video)

Okay this just in...I hate cleaning chips! I do it about twice a year when I get racks of filthies.....so...I took pics, have some commentary and provide a little movie. Jeepers! This can be perceived as a commentary but really its just my report of what I did today.

*Note: Walmart appears to not carry Simple Green anymore! They've now put the new Clorox' version "Green Works" on the shelves instead.

The villain: Racks of River Bend Casino $1's. My bad for not taking pics of them dirty, but I do have them filthy in a bathtub. They were dirtier than Uncle Chesters mattress.

Material list for this effort: Green Works, plastic tub thingie, big towel, wifes toothbrush and baby oil (I prefer baby over scentless mineral oil).

A picture of Grubby McGrubbers and all his friends:

For a little competition, I used Palmolive Oxy plus Bleach Alternative (long enough name) for a separate rack. I like Palmolive. Remember my Bikes?

I usally let them soak for 30 minutes in very warm water. After this, I begin the painstaking task of toothbrush scrubbing them 2 at a time in the palm of my hand. I've always done this. Usually takes forever (My A.D.D. kicks in after about 10 chips and I go into anxiety freak out mode wanting this hell to end). Plus, my hands become a big prune. Below is a pic of my past approach.

Now, I lay down 12 chips at a time on a towel and "Wax On Wax Off" each chip with the brush. The towel keeps them in place and I have a free hand to press one down if needed. Takes me the same amount of time, they don't fall off my hand and I can rrrrripp through the chips so much faster. "Finish Him!" I mean..Finish Them.

"Daniel Larusso's gonna fight? Daniel Larusso's gonna fight!"

Once I scrub both sides, I toss them in a sink tub that is (originally) full of cold clean water. After a stack+ has been cleaned, I take them out, stack them in my hand then do a quick scrub around to get the edges. Then they dunkaroo back in the water then lay them out on a towel.

After they've dried on the towel, I dump some Baby Oil on my hands (don't get fresh now...) and then I proceed to top-slap all the chips like they are some yokel who just hit a 2 outer. After all have received a little, I proceed to toss up the chips like a garden salad and kneed the oil into them.

Note: The Palmolive and Green Works solutions were equally effective.

And now...the patented Guinness Roller Oil Test Method (GROT'M) to see if too much oil remains on the chips! How do I embed the vid onto this post? The Embed tags supplied don't work. Special for forum posts?

GROT'M Test Video YouTube

Edit: Below is a pic of a stack of these soaked for a LOOOONG time in Simple Green (2 Days, high Simple Green ratio to water) compared to 30 minutes of Green Works solution on the right. I received chips that came like the left with the dirties so here is a comparison. I like the bone white on right, but maybe after oiling the left I will think different. Not sure. Super whites tend to "dirt up" quicker.

Hope this was as fun for you as it was for me.

Below: Arrowwood, 99%Evil, Guinness.
Very Mad about not being in the picture: Matthew
