i was just curious as to how many people actually like oiled chips. I really like the dry/chaulky sort of feel rather then a wet and dirty kinda feel. Doesnt oiling make the chip attract dirt easier?? i would think so.

If they're chalky....Oil em up! Well just BCCs and sometimes ASM edges. The rest usually don't need it. I like the vivid colors that oil brings out of these "clay" chips.

If they're wet, you used too much oil and didn't dry them off or let them dry enough on their own.

Agreed, if you're going to clean them you probably need to oil them.
As for new chips, I like to let them oil naturally by handling them. Quote:

Though I've not actually oiled any of mine.....I do like the nice, brighter look of oiled chips. It just seems to make the colors "pop" when they're oiled. However, I probably wouldn't have the patience to sit and oil all of my own chips.

Yeah if you can feel the oil then you've used 10x too much. You need about 3 or 4 drops for a stack or more of chips. They should be oiled, let stand for a while then dried with something like a terrycloth towel. It should enhance the look but not affect the feel.
