So a while back I won an auction for 110 Square in circle mold ASM chips.
I saw what I bought and thought I'll take a chance. The chips are canceled with an ink stamp of a salmon logo. Each chip has an elk lodge hot stamp on them.
The chips are pretty dirty.
Now the thing is, I know that these chips are good for something, I just can't figure out how to get them to a usable state.
I would love to get the cancellation stamp off and possibly one day label them.
I tried using nail polish remover, alcohol, soap and water. Nothing works.
Need some help with this problem. I'll take any advice right now.
Here's the set with cream and purple colored chips:
Here is the hot stamp on each chip:
Here is my attempt and the best I can do to remove the cancellations:
So yeah......I need some help.
Do you think dying these chips would be alright to do?
Oh and would any one know the history of these chips???

I brought some life back into the ink stamp asm chips posted above. For now I just experimented on a couple chips, but will soon continue to dye the rest. So if it hasn't been stated before, yes folks you can dye clay chips.
I used the simple dying technique that was posted in chiptalk. Basically, water, vinegar, boil with rit dye color, place chip in for half and hour, wash off with cold water, dry for an hour. Boom revived asm's
I used a mixture of royal blue and kelly green rit dye to get the shade of blue I wanted which is like an obsidian color. I used the same chip that I posted above. The dark shade hides the ink stamp pretty well. The hot stamp was already faded so the dye completely covered it.
The next set is a a shade of green. I can never find someone selling 8 FUN nite chips. All I need is 8 fun nite green 25's, So I figure I'll try to create the shade. It's slightly successful, but I'm not satisfied with the shade. Plus you can see the ink stamp. The hot stamp is visible as well due to the fact that the hot stamp was not previously faded before dying. I placed an original fun nite next to it for comparison, I think it needs more of a yellow tone in it.
Here are some other shots I took:
I had some extra Greek key asm's hanging around so since I am now a dying freak, I threw it with the sample set. I placed a blue dyed chip next to an original for comparison.
So in conclusion, dying clay is possible. Rit dye help me solve my problem a bit. The chips turned out fine, no warping of the chips, they stayed flat, no color transfer yet. It's going to take a while to get them all in order. I will post the set when I'm done dying (sounds very morbid)
