Chips: 371 | | | Just cleaned some PI Clay Edgs Spots I just cleaned in Dawn and Warm water 8 PI Clay Edge Spots , scrubbing them with a hard tooth brush. I soaked them for about 30 minutes first.
These chips have PI's laminated labels on them and I have been shuffeling them since Oct 07, at least several time a day. I usually use them when I am playing onlne for hours at a time, most everyday.
The chips came out very clean and the labels stayed intact just as they were applied and no damage from the cleaning or shuffeling(spelling?).
The chips edges have rounded a small bit, but not much.
Just a note on the cleaning and the durability of the chips and the labels.
I'm very pleased with the results ,as I have 1300 of them(both Edge Spots and Solids). |

Were your labels applied and/or "UV cured" by PI, or did you apply them yourself? |

Chips: 371 | | | Re: Just cleaned some PI Clay Edgs Spots I applied them myself. I washed and dried the chips before applying the labels.
They are very hard to remove after they are on for awhile. I removed a couple for a test after about 2 months and it was difficult. I think they are probabally good, as long as the chips last.
One of the sets, I have on the PI Solids was made for Nexgens Chips , so there is a greater space between the label and the chips recessed edge.
The cleaning was the same on both sets. |

But that's just my opinion. | I labeled my PI solid clays myself (the thick polycarbonate-coated textured ones). And I oiled my chips after labeling, but didn't soak them. I just rolled 10-at-a-time on an oil-soaked sponge, then pressed the face against the sponge, then wiped them on a dry towel. They looked great afterwards... for about a week, and then you couldn't tell they'd ever been oiled.
You can see the oiling and (immediate) results over here: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/custom...tous-pr0n.html
Here were some a few days after oiling:
(nice rich colours)
And here's what they look like now (and what they looked like a few weeks after oiling):
(all dry again, like they'd never been oiled)
But now they look dry |

Chips: 291 | | | Re: Just cleaned some PI Clay Edgs Spots I thought about oiling, but decided not to, but to just obsessively shuffle them every day. Its been a few weeks since I got the chips, and the colors are very nice, and he chalkiness is completely gone. |

Chips: 371 | | | Re: Just cleaned some PI Clay Edgs Spots The labels may come loose someday, but for now a couple days after cleaning they are stuck strongly on the chips. No sign of any water under the labels at all. I always thought you could soak and then clean the polycarbinate laminated labeled chips. I rubbed them very hard with that brush when I cleaned them.
I haven't done this with some of my other chips with vinyl labels, that are not laminated, but will try in a few days. I do know if I take that hard tooth brush to the chips without lamination, the printing on the labels will be damaged and somewhat removed from the label . You may be able to clean the chips being very carefull not to get on the label.
I'll let ya know how they come out. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
