Is there a difference between oiling original or dyed Faux ? |

Chips: 18,493 | | | Re: Oiling Faux Chips people oil clay b/c they're porous. the chips absorb the oil and it mitigates the natural dryness of the material.
faux clay are not porous. you're just gonna end up with an oily plastic chip. don't do it. also, fauxs aren't dry, so they don't need it. |

I had to use soap, solvent and aggressive scrubbing to remove some adhesive and it left the chips looking washed out.
I added a touch of pure mineral oil, just like I would clay, and the differece was day and night... without oily residue.
It works. Period. I would have called BS had I not seen it myself. |

Personally, I think that FC's are slightly porous so they can possibly take up oil. |
