Magic Eraser...harmful to the surface?

I tried out a Magic Eraser on a few chips last night...seemed to work well on some Chipco ceramics, worked well on TH&C's as well. However, I noticed that the TH&C's felt a little abrasive afterwords...am I wearing away the surface of the chip by cleaning them this way?
