I've always used racks. On a whim I ordered those rectangular chip boxes from 5star. I love them. I'll keep some racks for cashing out players or moving players from one table to another. But from now on the chips are being stored in those boxes. They work great with the new case I bought. I'm going to shop around for similar style cases. Looks like a good storage solution for my larger sets. I'll keep the samples out for display but I'm still in my reducing clutter mode so I'm happy with the solution.
I actually prefer boxes as well, especially for my tournament set. Now my cash sets all lie nicely in normal chip storage cases. My ASMs are in a very nice 750 ct case from Gameland Sports.

The boxes are great for storage but mine hold 26 chips per row (or 104/box) kind of annoying. I just keep sample chips etc... as fillers but kind of leaves a little doubt about possibly missing a chip. I have an old camera case that just holds 10 boxes across which is great as it leaves room for bank box, cards etc...
Nice setup.
