Do not try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

So, I am in a cash game saturday night. The chips are filthy. My buddy mentions it to the guy running the game. I second the comment. Seriously, the chips are literally sticking together and hard to get apart.

The person running the game starts talking about how hard it is to clean the chips. How he has tried to clean each chip by hand and that it takes so long and barely makes a dent on the grime.

I mention it is probably cheaper and easier to buy new chips than clean the ones he is using. Then he launches into a long rant about about how much he paid for his official 11.5 gram clay chips. He spent over $1000 for his set of 1000 chips.

So.... I show him some Chipcos and Paulsons PNYs I had in my pocket for card markers and as he so rightly pointed out, they are way too light to be real casino quality chips.

His high quality custom chips

Oh yeah, total amount of denominations sitting on the tables, in play, roughly 6k.

I chose "you are a chip snob, you self righteous loser."

But at least you are here with the rest of us.

I hope you washed your hands before touching anything.

While you may be a chip snob (I am too), your concerns are valid. Using plain dice chips when there is $6000 in the bank is ludicrous. The lack of security is problematic but the fact that he paid $1000 for his chips is downright criminal (and kinda funny too).

Those chips sticking together is a blessing. At least they can stack that way.

Re: Do not try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh......

Forgot something else. Throwing out multiple chips is NOT a raise unless you say raise BEFORE you throw the chips out. The reason is that they have had problems with people trying to throw out a single chip and because the chips stick together they really didn't mean to raise.

And it's only a string bet if you meant to do a string bet.

The betting line on the table is mostly there as a hint. If your chips pass the line, you can still pull them back if you didn't mean to pass the line.

I did well though. It was entertaining. The level of sarcasm flying around the table was off the charts.

Re: Do not try to teach a pig to sing. It wastes your time and annoys the pig.

How did they get so dirty? Does he know his anus is not the recommended place to store his chips? I say you and your friend pull out a couple chips from your pocket and secretly add it to your stack every hand you win. Run over the game, cash out first. Teach him his chips are crap the hard way.

Seriously, he won't believe anything you say. Print out a page showing those chips selling for $.10/chip. Knowing he got ripped off should put him on tilt.

BTW, there is nothing wrong with being a chip snob or a card snob or a table snob.

I don't think there's anything wrong with being a "snob" I think everyone that has a hobby is "snobbish" in some way.

If being informed makes me a snob, then call me a snob. If being blissfully uninformed makes me "normal", no ******* thanks.

I don't really understand the vote choices, but he should have been called out for claiming that 1000 plastic chips cost $1000. He is lying, or is stupid.

I agree with you for what you did, and would bring my own chips if I ever went back.
