I was palying a couple weeks ago at a friends tourney. He has an excellent set of custom POL/ASM roman mold solids. When I first sat down and grabbed the chips I notcied right away he had oiled them. They were still a bit "Oily" but not horrible. I asked him if he oiled them recently - he told me the night before he "Baby oiled" them. When I asked if he literally used baby oil he said yes & that the people at POL/ASM told him that was what he should use
Is that correct? I have never heard of using baby oil on clay chips. I am not an oiling chips expert by any means, but to me that seemed wierd. I ahve always read and used mineral oil
I did not know that baby oil was scented mineral oil. I'm glad using the baby oil isn't going to hurt them. They are an awesome set of chips - the only ones I have played with that are on the roman mold (one of my favs)
The extra amount of oil wasn't bad, he just didn't leave them out long enough to dry. They looked great and played well- no real greasy feeling. They were just a little shinier than normal.
Yeah. They'll dry out fine as long as he doesn't immediately put them away in stacks.
Shouldn't your friend be a ChipTalk member so he can ask this question himself (and post some chipporm)?
I think the issue was he didn't let them dry long enough and put them back in the case. Either way they were fine to play with
I have told him about CT. He doesn't "Get" being as into poker chips as I/we are. He bought his ASM/POL chips because when he was ready for a good custom set of chips he literally put in [edit: the system change the www address to a link. he put in the www address to POL] and got there. Once he read the site he called and told them what he wanted. Kudos to Jim or whomever there had the foresite to register that domain
