is there anything better to do on a sunny friday-afternoon, than lock yourself into your bathroom for several hours and clean some chips?
so i took some mild soap, some warm water and a brush - and started the show.
i´ve got these ceramics now, about half a year, and i used to play tournies with ´em approximatley once or twice a month.
they weren´t dirty when you looked at them, but you could feeld that the textured surface of the chips wasn´t that "textured" any more, every chip felt a little greasy - but i never thought that there would be that much dirt on them!
it took me a while, to rub eyery chip with the brush on both sides, but i think it was worth the time - now they´re clean and textured () again!
in clean water
rub them dry again!
clean and dry again - ready for the next tournament - aaahh!
excellent work. Thanks for the pics of the process. I never really thought about cleaning ceramics but it makes sense
Good luck in your next game with them

I loved Jamie Gold in HSP this week, when he bugged Helmouth about the way he rests his face on his fists everytime he is allin. He said something like, 'How do you like sticking all those dirty chips in your mouth Phil?'.
Nice job. I've never cleaned ceramics before, but I now have a few to do. I was a little worried about soaking them, but I guess they'll be OK!
I'd try a few 1st before commiting. Just in case a mass wash will either cause colors to fade/run or even trasfer onto different chips. Especially of you cant get them all done fast.

I've put ceramics in undiluted acetone. It takes a long time for that to make them fade. Soap (without bleach) and water can't hurt them. If it does send me the damaged chips, at least one chip that wasn't washed and a sample of the water you used and I'll buy you a new set.

lol
no - i´d never tried before, i just popped them all in the water.
but i was pretty shure that nothing could happen at all:the water wasn´t too hot, and i didn´t use a massive amount of soap.
but i´d recommend not to do it with clays
