I would highly recommend cleaning one or two chips with what ever product you use and then sleep on it for a day or two before doing the whole set.
As far as oxyclean, I tried cleaning some Paulson H&C Hotstamped casino chips a while back with it. I had pretty good results, however you have to be quite careful. I would not leave them in there for more than a minute or two max and if you do use an electric toothbrush to scrub them a bit, then I would avoid the stamped area.
With that said, I would skip oxyclean all together. It takes way too long and the results are not as good as I would like. I have not tried pipeshield, but I have used the diamond chip cleaner product on more than 2000 chips and it works beautifully, much less effort too! It is also much easier on the hotstamp than oxyclean. One knock on it is that it seems quite expensive, but you can really stretch it out easily by diluting it a bit and also once it gets dirty just send it through a coffee filter and into another container and reuse it again. By doing this I can easily clean 2500 chips/bottle even though it only says 250 chips/large bottle on the sales site. At 19.95 + shipping of $5 that is 10¢/chip by what it says which seams a bit crazy, but if you cut it a little with water and reuse like I do and get 2500 chips from a bottle then @1¢/chip that is not too bad.
btw I have no affiliation with this product other than that I have used it and I think it is quite good. It can be found here
