Re: oxi clean

I've used oxi on BC chips with good results but there was a recent thread about it destroying ASM's.
Be careful.
& use only cold or tepid water

Edit: LINK

Edit II : and make sure the oxi crytsals do not come into contact with the chip.
I have had small white dots appear on previously colored areas if too much oxi was in the brew.
If not fully disolved and still floating they may come to rest on the chip and/or your chips may be sitting on top of them .
I use a small strainer suspended in the oxi-water after the surplus undisolved amount had settled.

I like using the oxy-brew after I use an ultrasonic cleaner. Great results.

Re: oxi clean

I have also ordered 2 bottles of the Diamond Chip Cleaner and will try that when it comes, then compare the two. I have to agree that it is probably wise to strain the Oxy Clean prior to using on chips. I was mainly cleaning white chips, but it was clear that it wasn't totally disolved. A coffee filter would probably work fine to strain it first.

Re: oxi clean

I'm in the process of cleaning a rack of St. Jo $25 chips that I just bought. Yesterday I washed 15 with oxi (unstrained 1 scoop to a gallon), no soaking, just rinsing in the oxi and scrubbing with a soft toothbrush. Good results. Today I cleaned another 15, this time with 5-10 minutes of soaking. VERY CLEAN CHIPS. However, also dried out, with washed out colors, and needing an oiling which I am not looking forward to. Also, the hotstamp cancellations from ChipRoom were significantly loosened. Many of them scrubbed away with very little brushing.

Good to know that oxi doesn't work on ASMs. I've got a rack of those coming my way and I'd hate to melt them all.

Re: oxi clean

i know we try to save money where ever we can but for the most part it sounds to risky to me with this oxi unless they are white chips. we have invested too much money in these chips not to use the right product for the right purpose.(imo)

Re: oxi clean

1 scoop of Oxi Clean + 1/2 gallon of cold water + 10 minutes of soaking + some brushing with a toothbrush = 43 VERY dry Bellagio casino $1 chips with quite a bit of leftover blue transfer on white edgespots AND a lot of frustration.

Would you guys recommend I oil these?

Re: oxi clean

i have dirtied my PNY $2.50,i rubbed it everyday for 2 months, it has rounded edges and one day i was like, ah **** it, ran a bath with bubble bath and as i was washing i submerged the chip and rubbed it under water with a hand cloth then i dried it with a towel and it did seem a lil pale but it came back to its regular color the next day.

also, i received a grand casino $5 chip that was dirty from some guy i work with and at work (COOK) i put it in ecolab silver cleaner, and the dirt just rinsed away, even the dirty TH&C creases. it went pale but with no touching it or oiling, it went back to its orinigal color. dont worry about the paleness after you clean it. it comes back. dont oil it. your just gonna get a slippery chip/chips that your gonna go " FACK MAN, WHY DID I OIL DA BAS TADS"

save the oil for either the babies bum,the fryer or the locks, MMMm maybe also for 2 women fighting in a pool of oil. but not the chips.

%100 Real......

so for chip cleaning, run a bubble bath or get ecolab warewashing cleaner.
it doesnt matter as long as its not corrosive or varsal type thing.
