Chips: 586 | | | I think I over-oiled my Paulsons I think I have over-oiled my Paulsons. This is the 4th oiling they have had this week. Anyway, I dried them off really good, and later they had oil beaded up on them (like they were sweating mineral oil or something). I dried them off again, and later same result - beaded up mineral oil.
Have I screwed them up? How do I remove the excess mineral oil? |

Just wait, I never heard of "sweating" chips. I use a very small amount of oil. I needed about 15 ml for about 1.000 chips so far. Just dip your finger tips into oil and rub it on the chips with your fingers. Chips don't need much oil at all.

Just continue to wipe the excess oil off as they dry back out and they should be fine. The oiling process is basicaly a way to break in new chips to resemble the way chips look after the natural oil in peoples hands has soaked into them. You do not need to soak them in oil just wipe them with a rag with mineral oil on it from time to time and after cleaning. |

I really ought to post before and after pictures (had I taken any). A Paulson chip can be DISSOLVED in a beaker of acetone! Putting any acetone on a Paulson chip will immediately and permanently damage it, turning its surface to sticky goo! I learned this the hard way... "Alas, poor red Cherry. I knew him, Horatio."
For the benefit of chip lovers everywhere, never put your clay poker chips anywhere near acetone! |

I would never put any acetone (or acetone containing nail pulisher remover) to any kind of clay chip!!
It will definately kill your chips!

It will definately kill your chips! | I was planning to clean my cherries, decided to try acetone to get the brown finger-gunk off (I work in a chemistry lab), and it turned the outside of one to goo in about 5 seconds (just rubbing it with an acetone-damped paper towel). Then, for fun, I dissolved the chip in a beaker. It wasn't fun; quite sad, actually.
