Stacking plastic trays of chips?

Hi

I see all these stacks of chips in plastic trays. Is this good for the chips? The bottom rack has all the weight of the other racks resting on the edge of the chips? Or am I missing something?

Re: Stacking plastic trays of chips?

Actually I think it doesn't hurt the chips, but to take the weight off the chips I only use closed racks. They also stack a bit better.

Re: Stacking plastic trays of chips?

Stacking racks of chips wouldn't hurt the chips. Basically, each chip is only supporting the one chip in each rack it plus a its' share of the plastic rack.

Maybe an engineer (w16227?) can explain in technical terms.

take a nail and press it on the palm of your hand.

then take a hundred nails and press it on the palm of your hand.

wich one hurt more?

one nail.

cause the pressure is dispersed.
same thing for the rack of chips.

That makes sense to me. I think the harder question to answer is how to keep the top racks from getting dusty , while the bottom racks keep looking new.

Chips don't collect dust when they get used.

Put another empty rack on top.

That's what I do. An upside down one. Works great.
