Removing hot stamp from St. Joes

I've tried removing some hot stamps via a prescribed method of a non-acetone nail polish remover.

However, this turned the inlay dark and icky. I also tried my regular method of using a Mr. Clean pad. No use, it still stains the inlay.

HELP!

TIA

rubbing alcohol works best. I think 91% isopropyl alcohol is the stuff I used. Put the chips in that for a minute or two and the stamp just falls off.

hmmm...

I tried rubbing it on, but never soaking. Back to the test kitchen!

Thanks!

Can I see a pic of the dark and icky inlay? the non-acetone nail polish remover using a cotton ball worked for me. Make sure you rinse immediately so the soln doesn't get under the inlay and stain it.

Non acetone nail polish remover works great, too.
You just have to use a very fluffy cotton batting instead of a q-tip. This method is particularly suitable for cleaning the $5’s because of the giant inlay.

Re: Removing hot stamp from St. Joes

I cleaned all of mine with non-acatone nail polish remover and cotton balls.

1) Soak chips in warm water with a cleaning agent, i.e. dish soap for 30mins
2) Dip cotton ball in non-acatone nail polish removed and remove hotstamp.
3) Take a second cotton ball soaked in nail polish remover and whipe off entire chip.
4) rinse chip in clean water
5) apply small amount of mineral oil
6) take a paper towel and dry off chip
7) let sit on towel over night

This is the method i used.

Hah!
who told you that, huh?
it really works better, because it sucks off the black ink from the stamp underneath the golden foil!
Afterwards wash the chip under running water, it will flush away the remaining ink!
