I just got some blue Pharaoh's and noticed the blue of the chips were transfered to the white edge spots. I took a pencil eraser and cleaned the edge spot to make it pretty and white again. I rubbed my thumb across the blue of the chip to the white and now it looks the same.
Should I not waste my time cleaning the white edge spots?
Is this normal for the colors to transfer like this?
Yep, they are like crayons as many people have said.
I love the blue pharoes, and james bond color combo, but the transfer annoys me so I don't use them. The material in the home chips must be softer than the casinos because I don't seee this that much in the
authentic casino chips!
Are you using them in play or for tricks? If for play then you'll start to not notice. If for tricks, you will accept this still, because the feel and the color combos are very good compared to other chips.
There are other good chips such as ceramics that don't have this problem, but it is hard to beat the feel of a great top end clay like this.
Do you have other samples?
I have ceramics and am building a cash set of Pharaoh's.
If this is the way it is with the blue trasfering I will accept it, because
they are really nice, as you said.
Do the red edge spots on the white chips transfer also?
I shuffle and do chip tricks with the James Bond $100's. I love the color combo on these chips. I notice the orange spots take on the black a little bit.
I also think once you were down some of cross hatched texture on the edges it will help some too.
Ive got Bellagio $1 chips and it is virtually the same blue as the Pharaohs....with the same result. A quick search around the internet provided these images:
It is pretty common to see blue in the white areas. When I got mine, they were in very good shape but were circulated and looked worse that the ones above. I used an old toothbrush and a mild soap and the edgespots became pearly white. But the more I use them, the more the blue comes back...but I love how they feel.

I can confirm this is the same with the Mirage $1 chips too... even after cleaning the blue never comes completely off
