My Faux Clay chips using rit dye

Well, what do you all think? Wife wanted a bright set of clays, decided to make a mess in the kitchen and make her a set of custom dye faux, it's easier then you think folks and I am having no issues with dye not staying on the chips.

Great job!!!

Those look like they are full saturated with colour. How long did it take you to create that "electric" set and just how much of a mess did you make?

Re: My Faux Clay chips using rit dye

Didn't take long at all and I didn't make a mess either.

1) I boiled the water in a pan
2) I mixed the rit dye
3) I mixed some vinegar
4) Put 50 chips in a Steamer Inserts and placed then into the pan
5) Mixed and cooked for 50 minutes
6) Raised using cold water for 2 to 3 minutes
7) Dried the chips using a paper towel
Layed all the chips on a newspaper overnight to dry
9) racked them
10) waiting for lables to come in

Re: My Faux Clay chips using rit dye

Great job, really like the pinks. Did you use the powder dye or liquid? What was your water/vinegar/dye mix ratio for the pinks?

Re: My Faux Clay chips using rit dye

Wow cozy those look excellent. I think I'm gonna have to order some more faux clays within the month and dye them. I think I'm gonna go with the yellow and pink.
