BURGI | Clay chips (esp BCC & ASM, Paulson not quite as much). To make them shine (like waxing your car).
you can easily tell which of these are oiled and which aren't: |

People often oil clay chips that are either brand new or have been cleaned. Adding a tiny amount of pure mineral oil, then wiping with a clean cotton cloth tends to bring out the true, rich color of the chip.
If you search on oiling, you should find some examples.

Chips: 2,918 | | | Re: Oil and chips???? I prefer to use peanut oil at about 365-375 degrees for about 15-18 minutes for nice crispy chips served with beer battered cod filets cut into strips.
Oil is preferred over lard because it doesn't solidify again as the food cools down.
I suggest you cook the chips in the oil first, unless you want them to taste a bit fishy. |

Chips: 101 | | | Re: Oil and chips???? I oiled my Pharo's but I don't know if I would do it again. Right after oiling it looked great but overnight the shine goes away. You can still tell the difference but it is not as great and it fades even more with time. I feel the natural oil from players hand will do the same over time. As others have posted, for BC's it have more effect. |

Chips: 102 | | | Re: Oil and chips???? Oiling made a big difference with my BCC Desert Palms. Most BCC and ASM will look better after oiling. It's a waste of time with TR Kings, in fact oiling sometimes dulls TR Kings since they are shiney to begin with. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
