Which Oxi Clean Should I Use To CLean My Chips?

ok so i have been researching and found that oxi clean seems to work pretty well for most people that have used it.so i looked at the oxi clean website and found 7 different catagories then differeent kinds of oxi clean for each category.

the 2 kinds that seemed to be the best by descrition are the oxi clean dish detergent and the oxi clean free.i have also found another which is the oxi clean versatile stain remover.

here are links to the two descriptions

dish detergent- http://www.oxiclean.com/dishsub.asp?...=DishDetergent

oxi clean free- http://www.oxiclean.com/151740A00pro...bNav=Versatile

versatile stain remover- http://www.oxiclean.com/151616A05pro...bNav=Versatile

you can also look at the oxi clean website for all the other kinds.go to oxiclean.com then go to oxi clean products and you will find a list of different kinds.

so let me know what you guys think the best kind is.the two above are just the kinds i thought would be best.i could be wrong.

for those of you that have used this before let me know what kind you used and how you did it.for those who havent and are interested then look at the website and research and let me know what you think.

What kind of chips are you trying to clean? If your cleaning Paulsons get the diamond cleaner from Jim at the chipstore in CT's market place.

my 2 cents,

Re: Which Oxi Clean Should I Use To CLean My Chips?

i am trying to clean about 1100 paulson CFC chips.there are absolutely filthy.

i have looked at the diamond cleaner but it was WAY to expensive for me.i would have to spend $100-$150 to clean them.id rather just use detergent and a toothbrush.

i have cleaned some of them aboout 100 of them with a toothbrush but it takes so long to clean them.i am trying to find a quicker way without damaging them.if i cant find a better way then i will stick to the ol elbow grease method.

Did you consider Pipe Shield? From what I've read it seems to be pretty good. Just do a quick search, you should find the threads about it easily.

Re: Which Oxi Clean Should I Use To CLean My Chips?

I clean all of my collectable chips, be they ceramic plastic, or clay. I use Oxy Pro from Walmart. It is found with the carpet cleaning supplies. It is in 2 silver canisters with a blue handle and blue celephane wrap. I spray a small amount on the chip and scrub with a tooth brush then rinse it with water. I have tried almost everything, and had some chips that I just could not get clean. Especially dirt from the cane on Paulson's. I was spraying a spot in the carpet one day and on a whim sprayed a little on a chip I had a duplicate of that was filthy. When I was done the chip looked brand new with minimal effort on my part. I have even been able to get pen ink off some chips with it. It has not in any way hurt or faded any of my chips.

Re: Which Oxi Clean Should I Use To CLean My Chips?

Most of 'em will work. I've been using Oxy-Clean Versatile Stain Remover Free 'cause that's what we had in the house. It's perfect for cleaning all the casino gunk (don't even think about what it is!) from chips. It also did a great job of cleaning some Katrina-soaked chips.

I throw 50-100 chips in a small bucket with warm water and a good scoop of Oxy-Clean (about double the regular dosage). Let sit for 1-2 hours. I rinse them under running water and use a toothbrush to lightly brush off anything that remains. Just rinse them well with water.

Only downside is that it dissolves all the organic matter on the chips and leaves them soooooo clean that they will probably need oiling for nice bright and even shiny colors. (But maybe not for the CFCs with the giant inlay.)

I have used oxyclean too. I just looked and can't find the container that I used but it was probably the Versatile one too as it was just what we had at home.

Agreed with the oiling thing. One more thing, If you are cleaning hot stamped chips, don't leave them in the oxyclean for more than a minute or so. If you do it will weaken/disolve/ruin the hot stamp. Trust me, I know from experience. I have ruined a few chips this way.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention this since you were talking about CFCs. But Oxy-Clean strips off the foil on hotstamps. Here's a test we ran earlier:

TOTALLY agree here. Beware when cleaning hotstamped chips. If they soak for even a second too long, the gold foil comes right off. I ruined MANY!!!
