Re: Q for Swedish clay chip owners...

Hello

Great thread. I've been wondering how to clean my ASM's. I only have 10 samples that i rifle and use, but i'm going to get a set within the next months so i would like to know how to keep'em clean.

What i've noticed is that the ones i rifle (i rifle them quite alot) are getting..."sticky" and don't rifle that easily anymore.

So.. to clean them, do i clean them with soap (ajax) and then oil them with Herdins? (Yes, i'm swedish also ) Or is it enough to use the oil?

Any suggestions on cleaning procedures and solutions (other than Ajax or soap)?

I've looked around in the forums a bit, but most tips i found apply to products only found in the US...

I quickly nipped into the lokal "färgaffär" but couldn't find Herdins... Would it suffice to use any "parrafinlolja" or is Herdins preferrable for some reason?

(Sorry for a bit of swenglish, i am really tired and couldn't find all the right words...)

/Mike

Welcome to Chiptalk

You should clean the chips before oiling them. After you have cleaned the chips they might be a bit dry and the oil will make the colour came out real well.
When you get the chips from ASM you shall look if they are allready oiled, if you mentioned that you are a Chiptalk member they might have done it for you. If not I suggest you oil them before playing with them since the oil somehow protect the chips from dirt.

HERDINS Paraffin olja is great but you can use any mineral oil with this content:
Högraffinerad vit mineralolja med medicinsk renhetsgrad.

(I think COOP FORUM and OBS have HERDINS).

Feel free to PM me if you have any questions and I will answer in Swedish

I don't think just oil does the trick (might be wrong though)... I've only tried different laundry detergents, but they all work wonders (and it's cheap! )
Been meaning to try that Vanish-Oxy-Mega-Ultra-Behemoth stuff, but haven't gotten around to it.

As for oil, I followed up on a tip here on chiptalk, and unscented baby oil does the trick nicely (Barnängen barnolja). It's mineral based.
