This is gonna look familiar....I used the inexpensive method that was devised by WINTERS!! Thanks man, I could not have done these without your ideas and pics!!
For this attempt I had only 11 fauxs to work with {I will be placing an order for more very shortly} for the second attempt I will be using the hot water/RIT dye combo. I will be sure to document that experiment as well.
I had 2 assitants to help with this project my daughter and my nephew...and believe me when I tell you I think he was more excited than I was, especially when he would do a very loud countdown as the timer was reaching zero!!! *EDIT* Of course my daughter was only interested because she wanted a pink chip!!!
I soaked the first batch for 20 min and they turned out pretty good. I soaked the second batch using the same liquid for 35 min and they looked even better. This would be a super economical way to dye these, as long as you have the time and patience to do it....kind of like labelling these babies!!!
Just for the record I don't know how much hydrogen peroxide I used, but I know I used 3/8 tsp of Kool-aid and 1 packet made 2 cups/batches of dyeing liquid. I basically set up the chip and added water until half the chip was covered then dumped it out and added the H2O2 to the same level...I know, its rocket science!
