Another Faux Clay Dye Job (poor man's version)

I recently got in my 1000 faux whites and was planning on coloring these chips using the fabric dye method Stonker used. Well, I was lazy and started looking through the house for a few items and this is the result of my afternoon.

Started with the following:

1 bottle of Hydrogen Peroxide
1 package of Lemon-Lime Kool-aid
1 package of Cherry Kool-aid
2 shish-kabob skeewers
2 plastic cups
2 clothes pins

Add 1/4 tsp of Kool-aid to 1/4 cup of Hydrogen Peroxide. Not sure if regular water would work but I read on the web that the Hydrogen Peroxide starts to break down the plastic and allows the color to penetrate the plastic.

I hung each chip for 20 mins on each side. Below are the results. Not a very quick method by any means, but proves there more than one way to color a faux clay!

Also, wanted to add there has been no color transfer to other white chips since I've been shuffling them for the last 15 mins.

Peroxide, huh? Interesting. If you end up going with that method in bulk you can buy that stuff really cheap in gallons.

Nice work. Way to use the old noggin.

Can you do me a favor and do one where you re-dip the 1/2 pie by 1/4 turn?

That would give you 1/4 darker pink, 2 quarters regular pink and 1/4 white.

In the name of science!

btw, how do they taste?

Awesome looking chips.

Here's a rejected Kool-Aid flavor I had people believe actually existed when I was drinking iced tea.

Moose-Berry Brown
