How to remove dimples on Faux Clays

I hope I'm not repeating an old thread but I'm curious to know, how do you remove the injection dimple on a fc?

Re: How to remove dimples on Faux Clays

You can use an exacto knife or a dremel too to remove the injection mark and I've heard Sharpie markers are good to colour them in. One member here even mentioned using baby oil/mineral oil worked at restoring the base colour.

Re: How to remove dimples on Faux Clays

I propose a How-To thread with pics and steps for this, as there seems to be many inquiries on the subject.

Re: How to remove dimples on Faux Clays

Way back when I got a set of the 13 gram chips, they had the dimples on them as well. I just used a butter knife to scrape away the dimple. This made it flat enough to put a label on....

Re: How to remove dimples on Faux Clays

This question is just for knowledge purposes. I am happy with the dimples. In fact that is one aspect of FC that we should respect. I also want to re-insure that with FC the quality is always constant. Not that im knocking on Paulsns (god knows I want my own set) but who would pay about a buck per chip to nuke it! Makes no sense.

Re: How to remove dimples on Faux Clays

Heres what I did. I went to the local Pat Catans (art supply store) and picked up and exacto set similiar to this one. Then I went to walmart and bought a set of sharpies like these but I didn't get the ultra-fine point though I imagine they would work. I then used the square exacto blade to cut off the dimple on all the chips and used the corresponding sharpie to color in the white mark it left. After the labels are applied you can't hardly tell. Just test the colore first to make sure their a match.

Edit: Here's a link to the original thread I posted pics in. Halfway down you can see a scan of them. The yellow got distorted in the scan and you can see where I removed the dimple. Pics. Also I answered a couple questions about labeling and such to.
