I tried placing 50 Protege's in a c clamp and placed them in a sink of hot tap water. Let them stay till the water began to cool down a bit. Somehow I made things worse. I don't know how, maybe it was because the chips were not lined up in a perfect line in the c clamp. Now I have more wobble with a stack of 40 then i had before.
Hmm...i have never heard of warped Proteges.
Also i have never heard of putting them in hot water.
Have you used any ceramic blanks or at least a flat tile or something on each end of the clamped chipstack?!
I am not sure if it is a good idea to put them in hot water. I have flattened my PaulSons, by making a stack like this: ceramic, ceramic, paulson, ceramic, paulson... ...ceramic, ceramic. i put those stacks in a c-clamp and then in the oven. That way it worked really good.
Perhaps you may give them a second try, but be careful that you dont squeeze them if they are still hot.

Hot water made them plyable and I think is less troublesome and dangerous for the chips. I did not use or have ceramics. There was some minor sticking together of the chips, but no damage or imprinting from one chip to another occured. I still can't fiqure out how I caused more warping then that which was alrteady there in some of the chips.
I would imagine that the chips at the outer end at the stack, that are directly at the c-clamp may warp due to the pressure and the lack of a flat surface on the backside.
IMHO humidity+heat is not a good environment for clay chips.

I think you are right about the outer end pressure. I will get a ceramic tile or something. I checked the chips after taking them out of the clamp. They appear ok with no adverse effects from the water. Thanks for the advise about the pressure on the ends though. I should have realized that before I started.
