I think you may save the trouble of oiling them up. Just try two or three. My experience was that they don´t benefit much from it. Also in some cases the oil went under the inlay. After a few games they should be fine without oiling!
Congrats to the nice set, i hope they make you lucky!

Re: Best way to un-warp Paulson chips !!!

Ok, I am not sure if anyone else said this, but I purchased some "Private Cardroom" chips on ebay. A 100 of them for ike $60. There were several warped ones. Like maybe 6 of the 100. Instead of going through all the mess of cooking them and whatnot, I just took 2 chipco chips and put them at the two ends of the warped chips and put them in a case packed tight with some dice chips I had laying around. In about 2 days they were completely flat. I didn't over pack them by anymeans, because I didn't want them to crack. I did set the case upright so gravity would play a small role. Just crammed them in there and it worked out great. I can't even tell which were the warped chips and which weren't. Not that anyone else's suggestion is bad, I would just try this method before microwaving or cooking them.

Re: Best way to un-warp Paulson chips !!!

Can anyone tell me where I can purchase ceramic blanks? I need maybe 30-40. I'll gladly buy them off someone who doesn't need them anymore.
Please let me know.

Re: Best way to un-warp Paulson chips !!!

this is similar to how i used to un-warp vinyl records. 2 sheets of heavy glass and an oven at very low temperature. just the weight of the glass would flatten the records back to flat.

Ok, so after realizing I was out of luck in regards to getting my hands on enough ceramic blanks to flatten 500 chips in a reasonable amout of time I came back to this thread and read Roolife's post.

This got me to thinking about alternatives. So I headed to my local Home Depot and bought a carton of five 12" x 12" marble floor tiles on clearance for $5.

I sandwiched my slightly warped paulsons in a single layers between layers of floor tiles and baked at 170 degrees for 45 minutes.

I then took them out of the oven, placed some additional weight on the top of the stack and let them cool to room temperature.

Success! Where a 100+ stack was wobbly as hell I can now stack upwards of 250.

Thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread.

Re: Best way to un-warp Paulson chips !!!

I contacted GPI(Paulson) about the warpage issue. The woman who answered the phone stated flatly that GPI(Paulson) does not make any chips for home usage. I told here they do and requested to speak to a salesman. She hooked me up with a Justine Woodard, a regional salesman I think. He also denied that Paulson makes any chips for the home market. He said they have not made any since 1998. I ended this bizarre conversation and told him that I would have some retailer of Paulson chips call him and convince him that Paulson does indeed make chips for the home market.

Bump-

I've got a couple hundred ASM's that have been warped that need to be straightend / unwarped.

Has anyone recently had any success in unwarping ASM's? (Horseheads)

Quads,

I used the microwave to flatten some ASM roman mould chips after a sambuca incident. It worked well, just be cautious as too much microwaving can soften them too much. I would think that the method here would work just fine -- just err on the side of "less is more" heat wise until you've figured out what the best time/heat combo is for your oven/chips.

I think you're getting some idea of how much GPI values the home market
