The Sahara has a $2 drop chip, but I couldn't get one at all. I even put 4 $5 in front of the dealer and said, I'd trade her. No deal...
Grrr..

However, I must say that I’m totally amazed they would clean the chips at all. That’s a rare event at any casino |

Strategy #19:
Go to the table play like crap till your down to your last 3 $1 chips. Then get a little huffy and ask to be chipped up, then just walk away. Remember not to smile till after you turn away. |

Chips: 12,764 | | | Re: MGM Grand chip abuse (or how NOT to care for your chips) All,
1) Sorry about the scans being a bit light. It's an ancient scanner and even some TLC in Photoshop apparently didn't bring the true colors out.
2) I figured it might just be table action that rounded them out, but what I saw the lady doing at the cage wasn't quite just a rub-down. She had the chip in the cloth between her thumb and fingers giving it more of a scrub than a wipe. Seeing comments re. soaking and other bad things that happen to clays in the presence of water, I wondered. Still, I'm a newbie at this, so I'm picking it all up slowly. Agreed though, it's nice to not to have to play with grungy chips.
3) I did try to get a $3 chip from the dealer. He just gave me a no, which I assumed was a blanket statement. I should have tried one of the friendlier dealers. Julian, if you can manage a $3 rake chip for me when you're there, I'll pay you for one, shipping and your trouble. Ross, I'm jealous!
Thanks for the feedback all. Nice to know others find the $1 as nice as I do. |

Chips: 33 | | | Re: MGM Grand chip abuse (or how NOT to care for your chips) I'm heading to Vegas in 2 weeks, and was planning on playing in the room at MGM. I'll try my luck at getting 1 or 2 of the $3 chips if possible and I will let you know if I am successful.

Just poke around this very chip care forum. Without seeing exactly how hard they were scrubbing their chips, I can't be for sure but I think it's a safe assumption that the majority of the wear on the chips are from regular play, not cleaning.
Thanks for the scans and the cool story though. Better luck next time on the rake chip! |
