For our chips, I would recommend it unless they are going to be constantly handled. For casinos we don't do it, because the constant handling by people and the oil and sweat from the hands do it naturally.

For home chips I would say do it lightly. We have been using a silicone based panel cleaner for close to 40 years, and it really brings out the colors.

Re: To oil or not to oil?

It makes a world of difference on ASM's as well as BCC chips. I have received two different orders from ASM on my customs - the first order was oiled and the colors were very vibrant - the second set was dry and did not look like the same chip colors at all until they were oiled. I have some pics at home I'll post tomorrow to illustrate how much difference oiling ASM's makes. It is a pretty dramatic difference.

Re: To oil or not to oil?

I have a couple tubes of silcon grease. I wonder if that would be good to use for oiling my chips?

Re: To oil or not to oil?

Emergency help sought!

I just got some Samurais in from Holdem Poker chips. Does it matter whether you use mineral oil or linseed oil when oiling?

Thanks

YES!!!!
Linseed oil is a sealer that will harden when it dries. YOU DON'T WANT THAT!! You want mineral oil.

Re: To oil or not to oil?

After spending hours and hours oiling a new 1,000 pc. set, I have found the perfect solution to getting a well oiled chip for about $3 bucks and NO LABOR!

Just serve these at your game or tourney to all players and PRESTOOOO!!!:
