Question Argosy Casino Hotstamps: Removal?

I just bought some Argosy Casino chips hotstamped on both sides with a gold starburst hotstamp and I soaked them over night in Isopropyl alcohol (rubbing alcohol) and most of the stamps came off but there still is some of the hotstamp left ;that doesn't seem to want to come off even with scrubbing. Should I soak them longer in the alcohol or use another solvent to remove the left over hotstamp? Has anyone out their successfully taken these hotstamps off completely without damaging the chip?

I should have some Arogosy's coming soon. I'll let you know what works for me.

Get some Mr. Clean scrubs and cut them into smaller pieces and that will take out the hotstamp.

How many did you get? BTW... DON'T EVER SOAK YOUR CHIPS IN ALCOHOL again!

It can dry them out when they come out. Could end up warping them. We destroyed a couple 100 starbursts that way. Wasn't a big deal, that was when we ordered them direct from the Paul Son store.

I agree with HQ. To make the process goe painlessly, you should be drinking alcohol in the mean time cleaning the chips! You can avoid any frustration, and hopefully be done without passing out

That is good medicine there.

The chips are out now and none are warped. Ive got this Mr Clean Magic Eraser. Is that the same as what you're talking about?

Re: Argosy Casino Hotstamps: Removal?

Really? I took the hotstamps off of my St. Joe's with *ethyl* alcohol, not isopropyl alcohol. The stamps came right off and the alcohol cleaned the chips nicely, too. I think that might be your problem, asam2006.

The alcohol did dry out the chips, but no worse than cleaning them with laundry detergent. Oil them afterwards, and they're fine.

How long did you soak the chip? Or did you just rub them off with a alcohol soaked cloth?

Re: Argosy Casino Hotstamps: Removal?

I cleaned a bunch of St Joes with non-acetone nail polish remover and it worked great. Nail polish remover and a cotton ball. You can give that a try.

I soaked them until the the hot stamp melted off - maybe 5 to 10 minutes. I cleaned them in small batches (maybe 20 at a time) and could hardly keep up.
I don't know why ethyl alcohol would be different than isopropyl, but the person that suggested this method in a St. Joe's thread explicitly said to use ethyl and not the other.

Re: Argosy Casino Hotstamps: Removal?

Yes, I was suggesting to use the Mr. Clean Eraser.

The alchohol will warp after extensive soaking though.

I'll show you mine when I get them.
