So, HQ, a magic eraser with dawn is an effective, and safe way to remove a hot stamp?

If that is your goal. The hot stamp doesn't stand a chance. It will dry out the chip a little though.

*note: Mr. Clean eraser will do it on it's own as well.

I think Brian (*acesandfaces*) is planning on removing a hot stamp to replace it with a label.

Re: Another new cleaning method, UPDATED!!!

I used a magic eraser and some elbow grease on the canceled side of a ST. Joe's. No sign that the foil was ever there. Before I proceed with the other 99 chips, am I not supposed to do this for any reason?

I don't think there is a problem with that.

Also before you do the other 99. Cut the Eraser into some smaller pieces. It will go further. And WEAR RUBBER GLOVES. It will dry your hand out like no other.

It creates a wierd sensation. Dry skin on wet hands.

Re: Another new cleaning method, UPDATED!!!

Thanks for the heads-up (ooooooooooohhhhhhh--heads-up anyone?) HQ. I actually went a different route for the other 99. I used the dab of non-acetone nail polish remover method. Dabbed it on, wiped it off with a paper towel, oiled and done. They sure came out nice. The only thing I noticed that I didn't see mentioned on this site is, when MO canceled these chips, they used a stamp with the shape of MO. On nearly all my chips, part of the outline of MO is actually "cut" into the inlay. You can actually feel the line. Is this common? I'm assuming it must be but, again, I didn't see it mentioned. I propably missed that.

This is accurate. Only the foil stamp is removed. It feels a little odd, but they look cool as heck.

OC was it a specific type of dawn detergent? There are numerous versions. Extar strength Dawn b y chance? You can get that in huge containers at Costco for around $7-8
Thanks
