New Paulsons - Oil and Label or Label and Oil

That is the question.

Re: New Paulsons - Oil and Label or Label and Oil

I would suggest labeling then oiling. I wouldn't think the label would stick to an oiled surface very well. And trust me, you're not gonna want to do this more than once.

Re: New Paulsons - Oil and Label or Label and Oil

Thanks.
Should I be worried about oil getting into the label?
What would be the best type of label to use?

most definately label then oil-
you will need a THIN vinyl with permanent adhesive and lamination
total cant exceed 4.5mil otherwise the label will be higher then the chip effecting stackability

couldn't answer that one. There are members here that have gone through exactly what you are planning on doing. Some of them will chime in at some point and give you some good advice on this.

Re: New Paulsons - Oil and Label or Label and Oil

I'd label then oil, but I don't think I'd even bother oiling. New paulsons don't seem to benefit as much as the other brands do. Maybe just do the edges, which is real easy. Grab a stack and an oiled rag and wipe around in a circle.

Re: New Paulsons - Oil and Label or Label and Oil

How about just labeling and NO oil except from your fingers during play. Or just oil the edges only.

Re: New Paulsons - Oil and Label or Label and Oil

I'd agree with noelsarchs, don't know why you need to oil them in the first place. (and I'm not so sure this practice didn't get started right here on chiptalk ) While chip collectors have oiled their chips after cleaning them and to enhance their appearance, it certainly isn't something that needs to be done. Casinos never oil their chips and they seem to work fine in their environment ,,,

However, if you're applying labels over inlays or a hot stamp, you might want to use a quick wipe with Goof Off or 90%+ rubbing alcohol to clean the surface before applying the label.

Re: New Paulsons - Oil and Label or Label and Oil

Of course it doesn't need to be done, but it sure improves the appearance of BCs, ASMs, and TRKs.

Re: New Paulsons - Oil and Label or Label and Oil

Oiling my Paulson's was a lot of work for a little immediate result and almost no long term improvement in appearance.

I'd like to see some before, right after and a few months later photos (unfortunately I did'nt take any) because I think people would see that, with Paulson's at least, it doesn't make much of a difference.
