Oiling Hot Stamped Chips

Sorry if this has been covered before; I am wondering if anyone would know the effects of oiling a hot stamped chip and the potential effect on the foil. I know there are threads that discuss the effects on inlays, but I could not find anything pertaining to hot stamped chips.

I have 500+ Starburstthat I would like to oil, but I am nervous about the effects from the oiling process. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Re: Oiling Hot Stamped Chips

I've oiled a bunch with no problems at all.

I oil the edges af a stack of 10 or so at a time, then without wiping off my fingers or anything, I brush my thumbs and fingers across the face of each chip. I don't use a lot of oil to start, so my hands aren't dripping with it or anything, it's just enough to make them shiny. Seems to work really well, again, with no ill effects.

Thanks - I assume that if I used a paper towel instead this would still work in your opinion?

Re: Oiling Hot Stamped Chips

They look gorgeous, absolutely do it! I oiled my new TRK kings crown hotstamps and they look 100% better. Even the hotstamp sparkles a bit more. Same with my Paulson Grand Casino tourney set.

Re: Oiling Hot Stamped Chips

Finished oiling 100 so far; unfortunatley I found a couple of chips that were warped. Any way to "straighten" them out?

There is a thread called "warped chips" that talks about flattening out clay chips. It's in the Poker Chip - General section.
