The Cheeries you just bought off me, was cleaned with diamond chip cleaner, which I found worked a lot better than mild dishwashing detergent in water. I tried that on a few chips, but it took ages getting them clean. So, I would recommend the Diamond Chip Cleaner.
The 30 sherbert orange chips haven't been cleaned, but I reckon you can get them clean quite easy, as they are in super sweet condition.
Hope this helps, and good luck with the cleaning.
Looking forward to seeing pics,

You're right, they are in great condition. I wasn't even considering cleaning the sherberts--except possibly the edges slightly. My initial impatience has worn off, so I may just go ahead and order the chip cleaner. Thank you all for the advice. |

If it's only for cleaning the sherberts, I probably wouldn't buy the diamond chip cleaner, as these chips are only slightly dirty. I bought those off Wilson, and she handpicked these for me, so I got the ones in best condition and with dirt on them.
So, if it's only for those just use some mild detergent and water, I reckon that will do it, when they are not more dirty than that.
But if you are planning on cleaning more cherries, then I would buy the diamond chip cleaner, as it makes cleaning easy and quick.
Good luck with it,

Chips: 1,636 | | | Re: cleaning paulson cherries I cleaned some Cherry chips last night and ran some evil experiments. Cpiaaq is absolutely right - YOU MUST BE CAREFUL WITH THE HOTSTAMPS!!! Don't soak the chips too long in whatever cleaner you choose - an hour is OK, but overnight is not.
Also, the hotstamp WILL COME OFF if you scrub it hard enough. Luckily, the middle of the chip is recessed. I used a 4-inch long Fuller brush and I could give the whole chip a light scrubbing without affecting the hot stamp. But if I had to scrub, I covered the stamp with my thumb.
Finally, soaking them in Tide worked great! For some reason, the greens and lavenders came out of the bath cleaner than the orange ones. I realize dirt will show up more on the lighter colors, but even the TH&C's were cleaner.
I also experimented with Lestoil, which I used successfully in the past to clean labeled Paulsons. The Lestoil actually seemed to affect the color of the orange chip. It wasn't the same even after I oiled it.
Good luck and I hope you enjoy the chips! |

Chips: 136 | | | Re: cleaning paulson cherries Used some Tide on an extra $1 TH&C casino chip laying around. Chip was fairly dirty bit not terrible. The tide with a toothbrush got the dirt right off. Even cleaned the TH&C out perfectly. Just put a drop on the chip with some water from my fingers and scrubbed lightly. Dirt came right off. |

Chips: 136 | | | Re: cleaning paulson cherries Just tried the Mr. Clean Magic Eraser on some more cherries and man is it great. There is a little more work involved than with the other things (soap, Tide, etc.) but man does it work. For anyone who is looking for a cheap way to get your cherries clean, and doesn't mind a little work, I would use the Magic Eraser. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
